MSF's work is based on the humanitarian principles of medical ethics; the goal of MSF is to provide emergency care to people who are affected by armed conflicts, epidemics and natural or man-made disasters. In the Stockholm office, over 100 employees work in the fundraising, communication and advocacy, finance and support, human resources and operational engagement departments.

The role
You will work in a dynamic and fast paced environment where no day is like the other. You will work closely with the MSF Sweden President and Board, supporting them in their strategic work. You will manage a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities, acting as a problem solver, organizer and gatekeeper. You will also be responsible for the board meetings when it comes to administration, material, calendar booking and more.

The role entails communicating and collaborating with both Board and Executive. You are a key player in making the President’s and Board members’ mandate run smoothly, providing great service, a proactive mindset and a positive attitude.

Position in the organization

Reporting to the Internal Operations unit manager, but with very close functional working relationships with the President, Board and other internal stakeholders. The Board and Executive support belongs to the Support department.


Main responsibilities

1. Board of Directors Support/Governance (65%):

 

  • Providing administrative, logistical, and governance support to the President and Board, such as:

    • Fiduciary understanding of the strategy and governance of MSF Sweden, and the application thereof in support of the Board.

    • Preparing meeting agendas, documenting meeting minutes and managing action items.

    • Ensuring compliance with fiscal and legal Board requirements.

    • Collaborating with the President to ensure that the Board priorities and activities in the annual activity planning and control cycle are updated on yearly basis.

  • Acting as a liaison between the Board and the Swedish office

 

2. Temporary Executive Support (15%):

 

  • Providing administrative support to the General Director

We are looking for you with

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working as Executive/Board support

  • Academic degree, preferably in business administration, political science or equivalent

  • Fluent in English and basic knowledge in Swedish, written and spoken

  • Excellence in planning and reporting on a strategical level

  • Being service minded, independent, creative and self-motivated

  • High level of integrity and a proactive and flexible mindset

  • Excellent computer literacy, Microsoft Office 365

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and strong commitment to humanitarian principles and values.

It’s valuable if you have:

  • A Board certification / Styrelsecertifiering

  • Project management experience

  • NGO experience

We offer:

  • A challenging and exciting position in an international and multicultural environment

  • A permanent contract 65% + 15% (80 % the first 12 months)

  • Work hours: 30 h/week (80%)

  • Salary: 23 235 SEK/month (80%)

  • Benefits: Pension, health insurance, life insurance, travel insurance, insurance for work related injuries, wellness contribution (2000 SEK/year)

  • Vacation: 32 days/years (including 5 extra vacation days for goal oriented working time)

  • Entry date: 15th August 2021

  • Full compensation day 1-14 of sick leave

  • Position is based in the office in Stockholm

  • You are expected to work evenings (6) and weekends (7) per year
